Our coupler plate project began in the spring of 2006. It was intended to originally release these parts as Rapid Prototyped items but due to the realities of the technology, this was not feasible. We then set about finding a supplier for injection mold tooling. After many let downs, starts and stops, six suppliers all saying yes and then no, we settled on a quality supplier outside of the railway manufacturing mainstream.
The results are stunning. We used a slide injection mold for the tooling and everything right down to the last seam is replicated. These parts are small! The entire assembly consists of four parts. Glue with liquid cement but consider your final application as you might want to have the ability to remove the bottom plate to maintain your couplers. This product works most couplers; you might have some minor modification but keep in mind you are dealing with something much smaller than currently available. We release our first coupler plate in the spring of 2007. We have three new variations arriving in the fall of 2007. Keep an eye out as they will definitely improve the appearance of your locomotive modeling.
